Do you want to get into the exciting world of radio broadcasting?
Chippenham Hospital Radio is the radio station that broadcasts to patients, staff and visitors at Chippenham Community Hospital and online to the World via our website. Offering music (from the 1960s to the current day) and entertainment, as well as details of local events, sport and up to date news.
The station is run by a small and talented team of volunteers from a modern and well-equipped facility within the hospital.
Volunteering at Chippenham Hospital Radio not only gives you a sense of satisfaction and new experiences but also new skills and knowledge to either launch into a career of your choosing or just to enjoy as a unique and fun hobby. We have professionals on board that can teach you a variety of skills that could really help you stand out from the crowd.
Here's what two of our most recent volunteers had to say about joining us:
"I wish I had known about this opportunity earlier... I#m having such a great time presenting"
"I get so much satisfaction and enjoyment broadcasting on Chippenham Hospital radio and if that can bring a little enjoyment to patients then we both win"
Presenting a show
We're always on the lookout for people interested in presenting shows. If you think I could never do that, think again as we offer full training and support, all we need from you is to be a good communicator, a passion for producing good local radio and a regular commitment.
Perhaps you have some specific programme ideas, get in touch and we can provide all the help to get you started.
We're currently looking for contributors who are interested in reporting on local/community sports. If you're interested in any aspect of local sport, please get in touch.
If broadcasting is not for you, why not get involved in the 'back office' operations of the radio station. We currently have vacancies on our management team for a Secretary (to deal with meetings and charity administration), a Fund-Raising Co-ordinator (to help organise our charity fund raising activities) and a Hospital Liaison.
If you have an interest in technology or audio equipment, then why not help us maintain and develop our broadcast equipment. We utilise a mixture of audio and IT components in the running of our station, so if you have experience in either of these fields, we’d love to hear from you. There's also the chance to get involved with the technical side of our Outside Broadcasts.
Come and join the team, have some fun and help us make a difference to people in hospital and in our local community.
