How romantic will you be this Valentines Day?

Valentines Day is is an annual festival to celebrate romantic love, friendship and admiration.

Every year on 14 February people celebrate the day by sending messages of love and affection to partners, family and friends.

But what do people really think about this special day dedicated to romance?

Almost half of the people surveyed (15%) find Valentine’s Day as more of a commercial proposition as opposed to a romantic one (52%).

The majority of people (36%) treat Valentine’s Day like any other day but 28% believe in having a low-key evening together at home.

Flowers (22%) and Chocolates/Candies (19%) are the most preferred choice of gifts that people wish to receive this Valentine’s Day. Other popular choices include greeting cards (13%), jewellery (11%) and dinner (13%).

Almost half (46%) of the people surveyed don’t want to spend more than £50 on Valentine’s Day. Only for 8% of couples, sky is the limit when it comes to Valentine’s Day shopping.

Surprisingly, around 63% of couples have dumped their ‘Ex’ on Valentine’s Day either through text message (21%), letter (5%), through a friend (16%), social networking site (5%) or call (16%).
